KNOW THE TYPES OF SAFETY RESPIRATORS THAT EXIST
My blogger friend! Receive cordial greetings, glad to have you on my blog once again.
Let me ask you something, do you own a company where they get to handle chemicals or substances that can affect health by breathing them? Or where workers are exposed to areas with air contaminated by toxins? Well, then my blog will be of great help to you.
It is important that, if your company carries out any activity of this type, you provide your workers with safety respirators to prevent and protect them from the risk of inhaling contaminated air, as this can cause irritation of the nose, throat and lungs, damage to the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, nervous and respiratory systems, asphyxia, among other dangers.
That is why today I will explain a little more about the types of respirators so that you know which ones you have to provide to your workers.
First of all, there are two basic types of respirators, those that purify air and those that supply air.
The APR or air purifiers are divided into two classes, the first in particulate filter (these are responsible for removing particles such as dust, aerosols and gases) and the second vapor and gas filter (these remove vapors and gases from the air we breathe).
In order to be able to use the RPAs, it is necessary that users:
Are trained by a physician in the proper handling of the APR.
Know the identity of the contaminant and its concentration.
And that the area where they are working is monitored.
Within the class of particulate filtering devices, also known as air purifiers, are disposable respirators, most of which are certified for use with low levels of particulates such as dust, mists or fumes. Only specially manufactured disposable respirators can be used for solvents.
Half-face respirators are also particulate filtering respirators, covering the nose, mouth and chin. These are usually made of sponge silicone or plastic material and employ disposable filters that trap gases, vapors and mists, using special filters they can also capture small particles of particulate materials.
We also have in this class the full face respirator. These protect not only the nose, mouth and chin but also the eyes and the rest of the face. Full-face respirators protect the user from splashes of irritants and particles, but they do not prevent or protect against lack of oxygen or extreme temperatures.
The other class of filter, gases and vapors (produced by liquids such as solvents) are different in that the gases and vapors are dissolved in the air and cannot be trapped by a particulate filter. These respirators filter the inhaled air through one or more chemical-containing cartridges or tanks, which absorb the chemicals. containing chemicals, which absorb or chemically change contaminants. They may also have a particulate barrier. Some respirators contain more than one kind of cartridge to filter several hazardous vapors at once. Cartridges are color-coded to identify what type of contaminants they filter.

What do you think? Was the information helpful? If you still have doubts, don't worry, here you have some more support. It is a guide on how to select the right respirator from 3M, here is the link http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/323331O/respirator-selection-guide-spanish.pdf
If you have a more specific question I will be glad to help you, just leave me a comment or send me a message through contact.
I hope the blog is really helpful, if you require a quote send me an email for contact, I am a distributor of many brands of PPE such as 3M, Jyrsa, MSA, among others and other brands such as truper, surtek also have a line of respirators.
See you in the next blog!
